Book: The Independent Voter

The Independent Voter is an academic (written) book on why voters in the United States are registering as Independents and the history of how Americans have been active in political reform for decades. This book will also increase your knowledge about the role Black Americans who are advocates and supporters for electoral reform. Contract with Black America

The document, Contract with Black America, was presented by Ice Cube to share with the public on how Black Americans can achieve racial and economic justice in the United States. It does a good job of explaining what needs to be done and how policymakers can put them in action. It can also serve for Black voters to practice quid pro quo with political candidates.

Will BET Hold Donald Trump and Joe Biden Accountable?

Black Entertainment Television (BET) invited President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden to participate in a Juneteenth special. The topics will include systemic racism in the United States. BET is no longer a Black-owned business but still has the media power to influence the Black vote.

It is interesting that they will not be interviewed together. The thing we need to look out for during the special is will BET ask the tough questions. BET must hold them accountable for their harmful actions and comments about Black people.

BIVN Statement on the Death of George Floyd

The Black Independent Voter Network mourns the death of George Floyd and all those have died unjustly by the hands of law enforcement. These incidents have shown again that Black lives do not matter. We demand for swift justice for the police officers involved and police reform starts immediately.

The sad truth is politicians from the Democratic and Republican parties continue to give lip service and no action to make changes. We need to remove our elected officials from both major political parties because they no longer serve the people. We need alternative political choices to vote for that will support transformative policy solutions to eradicate racism at all levels of our society.

Black Voters and Our Relationship with the Democratic Party

An opinion article posted on the Guardian's website discussed Black Americans being in an abusive relationship with the Democratic party. We prefer to say it is an emotionally unavailable relationship. The majority of Black people vote in the U.S. for this party but get little out out it with public policy. It's unfortunate how we cannot vote strategically as a group to demand positive changes with our political system.

As a people, we have to ask a couple of tough questions to ourselves to thrive collectively

Why do you do support and vote for a party and you get little in return?

Why do you support a party that created policies that have harmed instead of helped Black Americans?

Breakfast Club Interview with Joe Biden

Former Vice President Joe Biden was on the Breakfast Club for an interview (finally!) with Charlamagne the God about his campaign. The interview was really interesting but did not surprise us about his comments. It was inappropriate for him to say if Black people do not vote for him (Democratic Party) that we are not Black.

Unfortunately, it is a fear tactic that is used in the political game by both major political parties to get people to vote for them.

If you did not see or hear the interview, the video clip is available on YouTube to check it out.

Black people MUST practice quid pro quo to get the results and solutions we want on our communities. A lot of us are not properly educated about the political process.

How are you winning or experiencing prosperity by voting for a Democrat or Republican candidate in your community or for President? If you answer is based on fear, it shows how it does not benefit you.

We are losing each year and don't realize it.  Stop throwing your vote away if you are not getting anything out of it!
